Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians, 

 

My name is Jennifer Speight and I am joining the Central Primary School team as your new (and very proud) principal! I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such hardworking students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school and to support the students and families here in BCSD, and now, more specifically, at Central. 
 

The 2024-2025 school year marks my fourteenth year in education. I began my career as a middle school English teacher in Cleveland and came to Bedford in my fourth year, where I served as an English teacher for students of varying abilities. I stayed at Heskett Middle School teaching English and serving as a department chair for eight years until I moved to Carylwood Intermediate School as Dean of Academic Achievement/Dean of Students.

 

At every level and every age, I firmly believe that every child can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community and our nation. The primary years are crucial for students’ foundation. Early literacy and early math and communication skills are key for students to develop. At this level, our teachers have the training and expertise to give your students the strong foundation they will need to begin their journey and become lifelong learners. 

 

Our scholars are my favorite part of the job. I am excited to work with each and every one of our kids as we learn to be respectful, open-minded, achieving, and responsible. We want to help our students be their best academically,  socially, and emotionally.

 

In closing, let us always keep our students as the primary focus of our work. Mrs. Lipford (our dean) and I like to be in classrooms as much as possible, so please schedule an appointment if you need to meet with us, or feel free to call. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2024-2025 school year!
